If you're keen to get your hands on an iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus but don't know where to start, you're in luck. We've crunched the numbers and picked out the best iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus deals across Australia's major telcos.
As a rule, we tend to look at value as the number one criteria, and focused on plans 10GB of data or more (other than for best budget iPhone). All the iPhones in questions are 64GB models, but you can normally upgrade to 128GB for a little extra each month.
Best value iPhone 8 plan
When it comes to bang-for-buck, Virgin is a clear winner. $93 per month will get you an iPhone 8 with 16GB of data, while $100 per month will get you the iPhone 8 Plus. You don't get any bonus subscriptions as you would on Telstra or Optus, but if you're just after a solid phone plan with a healthy data inclusion, Virgin is hard to go past.
Best budget iPhone 8 plan
If you're hoping to save money on your iPhone 8, Vodafone is a good option. Vodafone will let you pay off your new iPhone over as long as three years, shaving a healthy chunk off your monthly bill.
While committing to a longer term might not sound ideal, Vodafone's new "no contract" structure means you can change your base plan as prices or your data requirements change. If you decide you want a new phone earlier, you'll just have to pay out the remainder of what you owe on your phone.
On a 36-month term, you can get yourself an iPhone 8 with 6GB of data for $69.97 per month, or a iPhone 8 Plus for $74.13 per month.
Best Telstra iPhone 8 plan
Telstra isn't known for being cheap, but if you sign up before October 27, you can get Telstra's $149 60GB plan for $129. You won't pay any extra if you're after the iPhone 8, and you'll pay $135 per month for the iPhone 8 Plus.
This plan also includes a 12-month subscription to three Foxtel Now starter packs, valued at $420, 2GB of roaming data per month, and unlimited talk and text while roaming.
It's an expensive choice, but you get a lot for your money.
Best Optus iPhone 8 plan
If you're after a different "big data" option, Optus' $100 plan is a top choice. $110 per month will get you an iPhone 8, 30GB of data, unlimited talk and text, 750 international minutes, 1GB of monthly roaming data, unlimited talk and text while roaming, an Optus Sport subscription, and data-free standard definition streaming through Netflix and Stan. You'll pay $115 per month if you'd prefer the iPhone 8 Plus instead.
Best Vodafone iPhone 8 plan
Vodafone's best iPhone 8 plan sits just behind our overall winner, netting you a brand new phone and 16GB of data for $94.94 per month when you pay the phone off over 24-months. While this is slightly more expensive than Virgin, you do get a little more flexibility in that you can upgrade or downgrade your base plan on a month-to-month basis, and you also get Vodafone specific inclusions like $5 per day roaming. If you want an iPhone 8 Plus, you're looking at $105.37 per month instead.
Best Virgin Mobile iPhone 8 plan
It shouldn't be a surprise to see our overall best value winner make a reprise here, but funnily enough, Virgin's 16GB $93 per month iPhone 8 plan is also the best value iPhone 8 plan on Virgin. $7 more per month will get you the iPhone 8 Plus if you're a "go big or go home" kind of guy or gal.
$93 per month will get you an iPhone 8 with 16GB of data, while $100 per month will get you the iPhone 8 Plus.
