Eyeing Optus for your next broadband plan? Lucky for you, the telco offers a variety of cable, ADSL2+ and wireless options, all starting from $60 per month and all available on contract-free or 24-month plans.
Whether you're looking for unlimited data, the best bundle available, or a basic month-to-month plan, here are our choices for the best Optus broadband options for this month.
Of course, if you'd like to compare all available Optus broadband plans, you can head to our dedicated Optus page here. Or, if you're in an NBN-ready area, head here to view our picks for the best Optus NBN deals.
All of Optus' fixed-line broadband plans start at $60 per month, but each plan includes unlimited data, regardless of speed, connection type, or whether you opt for a month-to-month or contract deal (although no-contract plans incur a $200 set up charge).
If your home is eligible for a cable connection, the Optus 60 Plan - Cable offers fast speeds and unlimited data. Otherwise, the equally-priced $60 Plan with ADSL2+ can provide average speeds of around 10Mbps for downloads, although users close to an exchange may enjoy up to 24Mbps.
Best unlimited data
Great news for data lovers: all of Optus' fixed-line broadband plans include unlimited monthly gigabytes. With prices starting at $60 per month for cable and ADSL2+ connections, it's a relatively affordable option for families and serious downloaders.
If you're happy to forgo extras such as Fetch TV or Optus Sport, we recommend the aforementioned $60 plan. Plans are available on a two-year contract, or on month-to-month basis: but keep in mind that no-contract customers will pay $200 upfront in set up fees.
Best mobile broadband
While it's not the cheapest mobile broadband option available from Optus, we pick is the telco's $70 My Mobile Broadband Plus plan with a hefty 140GB data allowance.
The no-contract plan also includes unlimited music streaming on Google Play Music, Spotify, Pandora and iHeartRadio, which won't count against your data allowance, plus a bonus subscription to Optus Sport.
Best home wireless
Regardless of whether you sign up for 24 months, 12 months, or just on a month-to-month plan.
The plan includes 200GB of monthly data, with 10GB top ups available for an additional $10. If you're buying on a no-contract plan you will need to pay $240 for Optus' WiFi modem.
Want TV and home phone included in your broadband package? Upgrade to Optus' $80 broadband plans, and you'll get pay-as-you go phone calls, plus unmetered Yes TV by Fetch with a Mighty set top box and channel pack.
The $80 entertainment pack is available with all unlimited data plans on cable and ADSL2+, and also includes an Optus Sport subscription. You'll get one premium channel pack included, but can upgrade to all included channels for $14 per month.
If you love to chat, calling packs for your home phone are also available from $5 per month. Options include Domestic Saver, Mobile Saver and World Saver add-ons.
